Casa Mongibello is a vacation rental house, located in Gualdo Tadino, near the village of San Pellegrino, in the Italian Umbrian countryside.
The Italian owners based in Rome inherited the old farmhouse that belonged to the grandparents. For the renovation and transformation of the building, they called on the talents of Italian architect Pia Karin Spreafico. Mongibello means “beautiful hill” which, given its verdant setting on the edge of an oak forest, is perfectly appropriate.
Completed in 2016, the 430 sqm house can accommodate up to 10 people. The house consists of a comfortable living room with fireplace, a double-height dining room, an open fitted kitchen and an indoor barbecue, a storeroom, three bedrooms, and three bathrooms on the upper level of the house. There are two further bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with a rain shower and one with a bathtub) located in two outbuildings on the other side of the interior courtyard. The East and West facades were reconstructed using the old stones of the building and respecting the original design, while the South and North parts, as well as the interior structure of the house, were newly created with concrete. Thus, authenticity and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. The minimalist, elegant and airy spaces feature Scandinavian and Italian influences. Large volumes, high ceilings with exposed beams, rustic parquet floors, cement tile floors, combined with white walls, neutral colors, concrete fireplaces, and contemporary furniture. Large windows allow natural light to enter the interior and provide stunning views of the nature surrounding the house. Outside there are two terraces, one on the living room side and one on the kitchen side. There is also an 18 m long swimming pool surrounded by parasols and sun loungers, a vegetable patch, and an aromatic garden.
