Set directly on Paje Beach, ENVI Paje enjoys one of Zanzibar’s most captivating coastal settings. The resort is approximately an hour’s drive from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, while helicopter transfers can also be arranged for an arrival that begins above the island.

A new vision of island hospitality by ENVI Lodges

ENVI Paje is ENVI Lodges’ first property in Zanzibar and reflects the philosophy of the brand, founded in 2021 by Noelle Homsy and Chris Nader. Their vision is centered around creating luxury ecolodges where travel becomes an opportunity to reconnect with nature, local communities and oneself. The Paje project was developed with investor and owner Riad Welly, whose connection to Zanzibar and passion for kitesurfing helped inspire the resort. From the outset, the concept was designed around a lighter footprint, preserving existing palm trees, incorporating local materials and placing wellness, healthy cuisine and movement at the heart of the guest experience.

Architecture inspired by Zanzibar and local craftsmanship

Designed by SPECTRUM Architecture, ENVI Paje takes its cues from the surrounding landscape and the cultural identity of Zanzibar. Open volumes, seamless indoor-outdoor transitions and a palette of natural materials allow light and ocean breezes to move freely throughout the property. Local craftsmanship is woven into the interiors through Swahili-inspired geometric patterns, woven textures, timber and pieces created by island artisans. At FLŌ, the restaurant’s open-air setting is complemented by organic forms, while an intricate rattan installation evokes the movement of a wave above the terrace. Rather than imposing a decorative concept onto its surroundings, ENVI Paje uses architecture and design to extend the spirit of Zanzibar into every corner of the resort.

22 private villas surrounded by nature and ocean views

ENVI Paje features 22 private villas, ranging from Garden Villas and Deluxe Garden Villas to Duplex Garden Villas, Ocean Front Villas and Signature Ocean Villas. Designed for both couples and families, the accommodations range from approximately 71 square meters for a Signature Ocean Villa to 150 square meters for the Grand Ocean Villa. Garden categories are immersed in tropical greenery, while the oceanfront villas open toward the lagoon and the horizon. Several villas feature private pools, while the Duplex Garden Villas include rooftop terraces with views toward the sea. The Signature Ocean Villa takes the indoor-outdoor experience even further, with its own private pool and a generous terrace facing the ocean. Throughout the accommodations, natural materials, Zanzibar-inspired craftsmanship and private outdoor spaces create an atmosphere of understated, contemporary luxury.

FLŌ: a culinary experience inspired by the island

At ENVI Paje, the culinary offering follows the same philosophy of conscious simplicity. Set around an open, breezy terrace, FLŌ celebrates the flavors of Zanzibar through a cuisine shaped by the sea, seasonal produce and Swahili influences. Local sourcing is central to the experience, with the resort’s gardens providing part of the ingredients and an emphasis on fresh, nourishing food. Dining extends beyond the main restaurant: the Lobby Lounge offers drinks and small plates, The Gardens provides a more intimate setting surrounded by greenery, while the Pool Bar is designed for relaxed days by the water. At the Mixology Bar, cocktails and non-alcoholic creations combine botanicals, adaptogens and local ingredients, reflecting ENVI’s belief that wellness and indulgence can naturally coexist.

The Sanctuary: a new approach to wellness in Zanzibar

At the heart of the ENVI experience is The Sanctuary, a wellness space built around the property’s AFYA philosophy. African botanical traditions are combined with contemporary regenerative treatments, drawing on ingredients such as baobab, coconut, coffee, sea salt, lemongrass and clove. More advanced wellness protocols include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, red light therapy, PEMF, cold plunges and IV therapy. The spa features four treatment rooms, including two individual rooms and two double treatment suites, alongside dedicated manicure and pedicure facilities. Wellness continues beyond the spa with sunrise and sunset yoga, meditation, breathwork and sound healing. Guests can also explore the waters surrounding Paje through kitesurfing, diving and snorkeling, or take part in culinary and local craft experiences designed to create a deeper connection with the island.
