A Residential Vision by Dietrich E. Rogge

Atlantic Club Comporta was conceived by Dietrich E. Rogge, founder of the project and Founder & CEO of ROCKSTONE Group, a European real estate investment and development company. A longtime admirer of Comporta, Rogge first discovered the destination more than 15 years ago and spent over a decade developing a concept inspired by the region’s traditional cabana architecture and relaxed way of life. The idea is refreshingly simple: to offer the freedom and privacy of a private home while bringing in the attentive service traditionally associated with luxury hospitality. Atlantic Club Comporta is therefore conceived first and foremost as a private residential community, with 24 privately owned villas, some of which are available for seasonal rental. Stays begin at one week, with the first guests welcomed for the 2026 season.

Jacques Grange Creates a Design in Harmony with Nature

To bring this vision to life, Dietrich E. Rogge turned to two internationally recognized names. Architect and interior designer Jacques Grange designed the residences, while acclaimed landscape designer Madison Cox shaped the gardens. The approach is deliberately understated, allowing the landscape to take center stage. Inspired by the traditional cabanas of Comporta, the villas combine contemporary lines, natural materials and low-slung volumes that blend quietly into their surroundings. Rather than relying on overt displays of luxury, the interiors embrace timeless elegance, organic textures and a restrained palette. Grange has known Comporta for nearly three decades and drew on the simplicity, authenticity and close relationship with nature that characterize the region. The same philosophy continues throughout the gardens designed by Madison Cox. Indigenous planting and characteristic southern Portuguese species, including fig trees, pomegranate trees, lavender and grasses, create landscapes designed to evolve with the seasons. The result is an almost Mediterranean atmosphere, where the villas appear naturally nestled within the vegetation rather than imposed upon it.

Each residence follows the traditional cabana concept, with two to three separate volumes arranged around a private courtyard. Villas range from four to eight bedrooms and measure approximately 280 to 650 square meters.
