Kefalonia
The Greek island of 50 shades of blue

Kefalonia, also known as Kefalonia in English and Κεφαλονιά in Greek,
is the largest and highest island of the Ionian Islands archipelago, located west of Greece.
It features sandy coves and a rugged, dry landscape.
Its capital Argostóli is built on a hillside.
It is a lively city, with a small fishing port in activity, shopping streets and a seafront promenade lined with palm trees.
The small villages of Assos and Fiskardo located in the north of Kefalonia are marvels;
the winding roads that lead to it offer magnificent panoramas of the sea.
The village of Sami, nestled between the sea and the mountains, has fortifications overlooking the sea.
10 minutes from the center, it is possible to reach and visit the cave of Melissani,
with its underground lake with electric blue waters.
It is near Sami, 10 minutes from the village, that we find the beach of Antisamos,
located in a cove with translucent waters and surrounded by green hills that contrast with the blue of the sea.
After visiting the village of Assos, one of the most photogenic villages,
a small detour is necessary to visit the most beautiful beach on the island;
Myrtos, with its towering limestone cliffs, white sand beach and turquoise blue water.
You descend there by a 2 km winding road offering a dizzying view of the sea.
The beach of Myrtos very pleasant for swimming and also for admiring the sunset.
The island has five ports: Argostoli, Fiskardo, Lixouri Pessada, Poros and Sami.
Kefalonia is famous for its pies or pites, as they are called in Greek, and its local wine known as Robola.
Happy holidays in Kefalonia.
