A secluded escape between wilderness, design, and Arctic light

Located in the lakeside village of Torassieppi, near Muonio, Arcora sits in one of the most pristine natural environments in Europe. Set beside national park landscapes and surrounded by endless pine forests, the property is designed as a retreat into stillness, where the rhythm of nature defines the stay. Kittilä Airport is around 50 minutes away, placing the resort deep in Lapland yet still accessible for international travelers.

The concept behind Arcora is rooted in Arctic immersion. Designed by PAVE Architects, the resort is composed of 42 hotel rooms and 20 detached villas, creating a hybrid between boutique hotel and private wilderness retreat. The architecture draws inspiration from Lapland’s natural forms, using wood, glass, and dark mineral tones to reflect the surrounding forest and seasonal light changes. Rather than dominating the landscape, the buildings are integrated into it. Large floor-to-ceiling windows open directly onto the forest and night sky, turning nature into a constant presence. The design philosophy is centered on “Arctic luxury through silence,” where space, light, and materiality define the experience as much as service or amenities.

The accommodation is divided into suites and villas, each designed with a strong focus on privacy, comfort, and connection to the outdoors. Inside the Jr Suite Kalle, Executive Suite Jussi, and Deluxe Villa Jouni, interiors follow a distinctly Nordic aesthetic: natural wood surfaces, soft wool textiles, stone details, and a restrained palette of warm neutrals and deep earthy tones. The Executive Suite Jussi introduces a more elevated residential experience, with a separate bedroom, open views to the wilderness, and a private spa area featuring a view sauna and sculptural bathtub designed for bathing beneath the Arctic sky. The Deluxe Villa Jouni takes privacy further, offering standalone living, a private terrace, and an outdoor hot tub positioned under the northern stars. Across all categories, the interior design emphasizes tactile materials and sensory comfort. Lighting is dimmable and atmospheric, furniture is custom-made with clean Scandinavian lines, and every detail is oriented toward framing the landscape. The result is a series of spaces where the boundary between indoors and outdoors is intentionally blurred.

Dining at Arcora is conceived as part of the wider Arctic experience. A fine dining restaurant and artisan bakery highlight Nordic ingredients, seasonal preservation techniques, and contemporary Finnish cuisine. A champagne bar and lounge spaces extend the experience into the evening, while wellness facilities include a rooftop infinity pool, sauna world, hot tubs, and spa treatments inspired by Arctic nature. Experiences are central to the stay, with year-round activities designed around Lapland’s changing seasons. Guests can explore snow-covered forests in winter, witness the northern lights, or experience the midnight sun in summer. Everything is designed as a curated journey into Arctic wilderness rather than a traditional hotel stay.

With its architectural precision, remote setting, and immersive approach to hospitality, Arcora Boutique Hotel & Villas positions itself as one of Finland’s most distinctive new luxury openings. A place where design, nature, and silence become the essence of travel.
