August: Hotel in Antwerp
Hiding behind typical Flemish brick walls is where you'll find August, a warm and timeless hotel.
New modern-day sanctuary
In Antwerp, in the heart of a green and trendy district, the August hotel occupies a former convent of five buildings merged together and surrounded by three large gardens.
The complex, including the hotel, restaurant, bar, library, wellness center, and boutique, were renovated under the direction of Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen and the managers of the famous boutique hotel “Hotel Julien”.
Every bespoke detail is tailor-made, in collaboration with brands such as Molteni, Flos, and Serax, among others. The dominant colors are soft green wood, dark smoky oak, and black and white. The high ceilings, period hand-glazed tiles, parquet floors, crown molding, and doors have been restored with the original stained glass replaced by more transparent stained glass to let the light in fully.
August offers 44 minimalist rooms and suites, all of which are different and decorated in a sober palette of colors. Rooms feature hand-woven carpets, unique and contemporary furniture, designer lighting, soft comforters, and a warm feel-at-home fragrance. Some rooms are even located under the roofs, with exposed beams and wooden ceilings. The en-suite bathrooms are designed with hand glazed tiles, and either with an Italian rain shower or freestanding bathtub.
Under the winter glass roof, August’s restaurant and bar are run by starred chef Nick Bril where you’ll find a modern brasserie-style cuisine with a focus on seasonal produce.
The wellness area includes Bamford products, a sauna, a steam room, an outdoor shower and a natural outdoor swimming pool.
August has been designed to be your home away from home.
