A conceptual space in Shanghai
Beast X Gubi House is a hybrid conceptual space, located in the Xuhui district, the former French quarter of Shanghai.
The Danish design brand Gubi has partnered with the new generation Chinese lifestyle brand Beast. According to Beast founder Amber Shang, Gubi embodies a classic and elegant style that perfectly complements Beast’s offering. Jacob Gubi, owner and creative director of Gubi, said Beast was an obvious choice for their first showroom outside of Denmark. The concept is nestled in a hundred-year-old heritage listed building typical of French estates , which underwent a major renovation for over five years. This transformation project, with its 500 square meters spread over three floors, was supervised by the local interior design company Chaos Programme. This new design destination is a multi-functional space including a café, garden, charming hotel, event space and, of course, Gubi’s entire collection alongside a carefully organized selection of art, design, and floristry. A large entrance from the quiet, tree-lined street leads inside to the café, which also overlooks a backyard and the lush wildflower garden. Nagasaki chairs and the new Epic tables equip this outdoor space.
The floor above is dedicated to the hotel section. It has just 2 rooms, arranged around a lounge. The rooms include a Stay Bed, a Grand Piano sofa, the Pacha lounge chair and the Moon coffee table, just to mention a few. The top floor depicts home living, with a living room, dining room and an open kitchen showcasing finishes and materials, and exhibiting the new Wonder sofa and Beetle chair.
In the heart of the bustling city of Shanghai, Beast X Gubi House promises a unique design experience.
