Capella Sydney opens its doors, adding a new option to the Australian city's booming hotel scene, designed by Make Architects.
Hidden luxury in historic Sandstone
Capella Sydney is ideally located in the north of the CBD. The hotel occupies a large, heritage-listed sandstone building that once housed government ministries. The transformation was led by the architecture studio Make, which incorporated a floor extension of the original roof. Rooms have sleek, understated interiors, with walnut wood and natural stone, Frette linens, and Hæckels bath products. Each space features pieces by Australian artists.
