Casa de las Artes, member of Meliá Collection: Hotel in Madrid
Casa de las Artes, a member of The Meliá Collection, is a Madrid address where every detail seems to whisper a verse by Cervantes.
Casa de las Artes: Where Madrid’s arts and hospitality converse
In the vibrant heart of the Barrio de las Letras, where the façades still echo the words of the poets of Spain’s Golden Age, Casa de las Artes – The Meliá Collection stands as a cultural and sensory haven. Here, hospitality does more than welcome, it narrates, celebrates, and reinvents art in all its forms.
Located between Calle Atocha and Calle Moratín, this singular house lies just steps away from the museums of the Golden Triangle of Art (Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen-Bornemisza), amid cafés buzzing with bohemian conversation. In this hushed atmosphere, Casa de las Artes pays tribute to the seven fine arts, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, literature, and cinema, through an immersive concept that connects artistic expression with travel and contemplation.
Designed by architect Álvaro Sans and interior designer Adriana Sans of ASAH Studio, the aesthetic pays homage to Miguel de Cervantes, the neighborhood’s tutelary figure. The style, refined and inspired, combines the warm textures of wood with reinterpreted neoclassical lines and contemporary touches that evoke Madrid’s artistic effervescence. The spaces open into luminous areas where murals, mosaics, and sculpted details create a dialogue between tradition and modernity, each element reflecting both artisanal precision and artistic sensitivity.
The 137 rooms and suites unfold in soft, textured tones, ranging from 16 sqm superior rooms to suites with private terraces and outdoor bathtubs. Each is a haven of serenity: wallpaper inspired by antique engravings, noble fabrics, delicate lighting, and bespoke furniture. Some overlook the narrow streets of the literary quarter, others open onto intimate patios, true pockets of tranquility. Everything here evokes reading, writing, and creation: a hotel that inspires before one even falls asleep.
At the heart of the hotel lies MACHÉ, a restaurant housed in the former building of the Spanish Railway Association (Renfe). Mediterranean fusion cuisine, visual art, historic volumes, soaring ceilings, and spectacular stained glass come together in a theatrical experience where flavor and presentation unite to awaken all five senses. Each dish harmonizes with the décor or a live performance, turning every dinner into a true gastronomic spectacle.
Casa de las Artes also features a complete wellness area where body and mind unwind in perfect harmony. Guests can enjoy a thermal pool, an oasis of calm in the heart of Madrid, or the fitness center, equipped with a ballet barre, blending exercise with artistic elegance. The private “Miró” cinema, inspired by 1950s Hollywood theaters, offers intimate screenings in a refined ambiance, while the cozy library, lined with wood paneling and leather armchairs, invites guests to read and reflect. To extend the cultural experience, the hotel hosts concerts, creative workshops, musical brunches, and yoga sessions, immersing visitors fully in Madrid’s artistic universe.
Under the banner of The Meliá Collection, Casa de las Artes embraces a philosophy of conscious and emotional travel, celebrating heritage, creativity, and authenticity. Every corridor, every light, every scent resonates as an invitation to contemplation.
Between culture and elegance, Casa de las Artes embodies a poetic, vibrant Madrid, where one comes not just to stay, but to dream, to write, and to be inspired. Here, art lives in the cuisine, the décor, and every gesture. And when night falls over the Barrio de las Letras, one realizes that in Madrid, beauty is lived like a poem.
