A break in the middle of the vines
Château La Grande Clotte is located in Lussac, about ten kilometers north-east of Saint-Émilion, and 40 km from Bordeaux.
La Grande Clotte is the project of the couple Julie Rapet and Mathieu Mercier who bought the château in 2016 with Lussac-Saint-Emilion appellation. The estate extends over eight hectares of vines, on a land of valleys and plateaus facing south.
After renovating several buildings, it was in 2021 that they opened the guest house area. A former workers’ accommodation located between their house and the cellar has been transformed to accommodate a tasting area where breakfast is also served, and 2 spacious guest rooms.
Named Le Nid and La Douce, each of the rooms has its own character. With an area of 40 m2, they offer comfort and serenity. The rooms have a queen-size bed of 160 cm, a lounge area directly overlooking the beauty of the vineyard, a bathroom with a shower and a bathtub, and a separate wc. Decorated in the colours of the forests, each element has been chosen with taste and laid with love, all in harmony with the place (cork floor, visible beams, reading materials in recycled paper), for a light spirit in a cosy atmosphere. The rooms are completely independent and have exterior access overlooking the garden and the vineyards.
After spending a restful night, enjoy a hearty breakfast made up of homemade (jams, honey, yogurt, madeleines …) and local products (pastries from the village baker and roasted coffee next door, in Lussac), before exploring the domain and stroll in its surroundings.
A visit of the property, as well as the tasting of wines, is planned and includes during the stay. For those who wish to become the oenologist for a day, the Château offers a wine tasting and assembly workshop, in order to leave with their own bottle.
In a peaceful and rejuvenating setting, the Château la Grande Clotte is a perfect place to discover Saint Emilion and its surroundings.
