Concepcio by Nobis: Hotel in Mallorca

A sublime, contemporary take on Mallorcan design

Nestled in the old town of the capital Palma de Mallorca, in the heart of Santa Catalina, Concepcio by Nobis is ideally placed to enjoy the city’s most iconic attractions. The Concepcio hotel belongs to the Swedish group Nobis Hospitality which already has seven highly regarded properties in its portfolio. Opened in June 2021, this hotel is their first hotel outside of Scandinavia. The abandoned historic building, originally a soap factory built in 1576, has been renovated and remodeled in collaboration with their award-winning Swedish architect partner Wingardhs, alongside Spanish firms Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto. Original features have been retained such as pillars, exposed beams, stunning vaulted ceilings, beautiful arches, and circular windows.

The 31 rooms and suites, which range from standard single rooms to the Terrazza room, with their own covered patio, are each delicately decorated, while preserving the old and adding layers of sharp contemporary touches. Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea and the green mountains of Tramuntana, the rooms present sober, modern and luxurious interiors, embellished with natural materials, wood, leather and wool, alongside Carl Hansen’s “Cuba” chairs. On the ground, the green and cream ceramic tiles resembling watercolor paintings, were custom made by Mallorcan brand Huguet. The furniture, bed frame, washbasin, and carpentry are all locally produced. Each room has a small seating area and a spacious bathroom with a rain shower and Byredo toiletries.

The hotel has a lounge space, an outdoor swimming pool with sunbeds, lush terraces, a verdant garden, a modern gym with a sauna, a restaurant, and several spaces for meetings and events. Concepcio by Nobis is an intimate, relaxed, and sophisticated place, sporting a distinctly Mediterranean glamor, for an original experience in the heart of Palma.
