De Tourrel: Hotel in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

Nestled into the ancient village of Saint Rémy de Provence, De Tourrel is a small hotel combining history, design, and fine wines.

A bridge between fine wines and great design

The De Tourrel hotel is tucked neatly into a pedestrian street in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in the heart of the Alpilles.

Originally a private mansion built in 1650 for the noble Tourrel d’Almeran family, it later became the Hotel d’Almeran. The property was recently purchased by the German couple Ralph Huesgen and architect Margot Staengle. In 2015, the two buildings were brought together and renovated for a contemporary experience on a human scale. The entrance, hidden inside a narrow alley, opens up onto a hall with a majestic staircase in solid sandstone. The hotel has preserved its period-style architecture and features stuccoes, high ceilings, and crown moldings. The style is uncluttered, with minimalist white and beige colors, married with designer furniture and modern textures that add a touch of warmth.

The 24 original rooms have been scaled down to just 9 suites, with large volumes ranging from 30 to 62 sqm. No details have been left to chance in the suite layout; built-in cupboard doors, heated wood floors, large windows, ultra-comfortable Schramm bedding, luxurious sheets, intelligent lighting, high-tech equipment, iconic objects and furniture by designers Eileen Gray and Konstantin Grcic, chosen in partnership with ClassiCon. The bathrooms are designed in marble, some being equipped with a free-standing bathtub, and are equipped with Aesop hospitality toiletries.

On the ground floor, the restaurant and its young starred chef Jérémy Scalia, prepare a refined cuisine with local products. The Wine Bar, open to the street through large glass arcades, offers an impressive wine selection. The hotel offers a rooftop terrace-lounge with Ego furniture and an outdoor swimming pool with a view over the surrounding rooftops.
