Farasha Farmhouse: Hotel in Marrakech
Just 30 minutes from Marrakech, Farasha Farmhouse offers a sustainable yet desirable retreat, perfectly aligned with nature.
A place where discreet luxury, nature, and art converge
Located just half an hour from Marrakech, nestled between the majestic Atlas Mountains and the arid landscapes of the Jbilet desert, Farasha Farmhouse is a one-of-a-kind retreat. The name “Farasha,” meaning “butterfly” in Moroccan Arabic, symbolizes the lightness and elegance of this timeless haven.
This unique property is the brainchild of a passionate Franco-Irish duo, Rosena and Fred Charmoy, founders of the Marrakech-based event company Boutique Souk. Once a countryside home and artist’s residence, hosting the studio of French painter Patrice Arnaud, the farmhouse was transformed in 2021 into a confidential boutique hotel with the help of the architectural firm Aire au Carré. Designed as a creative sanctuary for like-minded souls, Farasha Farmhouse embodies a delicate balance between traditional charm and contemporary innovation.
Away from the bustling medina of Marrakech, the property is set amidst a lush olive grove with 450 mature trees and a Mediterranean garden designed by landscape architect Marius Boulesteix. Its luminous and open architecture blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, creating perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape.
The farmhouse features four elegant suites, each meticulously crafted to celebrate Moroccan artistry and craftsmanship. From plush rugs by Beni Rugs to works by local artists such as Amine El Gotaibi and Laurence Leenaert (Lrnce), and carefully curated artisanal furniture, every detail tells a story. Smooth tadelakt finishes, local zellige tiles, earthy tones of burnt orange and brown, and velvety textiles create a warm yet sophisticated ambiance. The ground floor suite has its own private patio, while the two upstairs suites offer deep soaking tubs with breathtaking mountain views. Outside, the Casita suite, an independent traditional house, has been reimagined with a spacious living area and contemporary elegance. By next year, six additional rooms will be available, bringing the total to ten suites.
The library, stocked with rare books from the private collection of Diana Vreeland—generously donated by her son Freck, former U.S. ambassador to Morocco—reflects the property’s cultural soul. The gardens are adorned with crystals from northern Morocco to enhance positive energy, while a hand-painted orange juice cart adds a charming touch.
Dining at Farasha Farmhouse is a communal experience, with meals served on a large shaded table. Throughout the day, Farasha’s bar-restaurant offers a “farm-to-table” culinary experience, guided by Executive Chef Aniss Meski from Mouton Noir. Seasonal vegetables, fresh salads, and aromatic herbs grown in the estate’s agricultural gardens are crafted into Mediterranean-inspired dishes, served family-style for sharing. Olive oil pressed from the property’s 400 olive trees enhances the flavors, creating a truly local and authentic experience. At 5 p.m., the Freddie’s Bar invites guests to unwind with cocktails before dinner in a relaxed and convivial setting.
A 50-meter swimming pool, lined with olive trees, spans the heart of the property. Surrounded by oversized loungers and offering breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains, this space is perfect for relaxation and contemplation.
Farasha Farmhouse is more than just a stay; it’s a destination for those seeking serenity, authenticity, and sophistication. A true ode to Morocco, where tradition and modernity harmoniously coexist.
