A hideaway on the Costa Brava
Located on the Costa Brava, in the center of the small seaside town of Begur, La Bionda hotel opened its doors in the summer of 2020.
Founded by Carla Lloveras, La Bionda tells the story of a woman who, in the 1930s, welcomed inspiring and influential women into her home; intellectuals, writers, actresses, singers, artists, and sportswomen. The old abandoned 17th century house has been carefully restored and decorated by the architectural duo Benito Escat and Pol Castells de Quintana Partners Studio. Much of the original structure has been preserved, including the vaulted ceilings. New modern installations have been added such as solar panels and aerothermal energy. The floors are covered with herringbone brick or terracotta tiles, and the walls with lime plaster. The interiors are furnished with antique objects found in flea markets and other custom-made pieces for the hotel: wicker lamps, antique sofas covered by Güell-Lamadrid, Baumann chairs or even pieces by Fornasett.
La Bionda has 8 rooms named Joséphine, Charlotte, Carmen… Each one of these rooms maintains its own unique universe, in relation to the personalities they are dedicated to. The rooms are equipped with draped headboards, vintage lamps, and a Marshall speakers. Each room has a bathroom with Grown Alchemist products.
The breakfast, composed of local products, is served in ceramic dishes made by the artisan Pau Costa. On the first floor, a spacious living room with a library provides a versatile space to relax, and outside you will find a greenhouse with a shared table that serves as a dining room. The hotel has a sunny rooftop equipped with sofas, umbrellas, and a whirlpool bath.
La Bionda is a special, unusual and inspiring place, designed for aesthetics lovers.
