La Darbia in Chianti: Hotel in Tuscany, Italy
La Darbia in Chianti – A Reimagined Tuscan Hamlet Between Nature and Elegance
An intimate retreat in the heart of the Chianti landscape
In Chianti, beauty reveals itself through the smallest details. A road lined with cypress trees, a hillside covered with vines, the golden light illuminating medieval villages at sunset. It is within this preserved landscape, between Panzano and Greve in Chianti, that La Darbia in Chianti offers a rare experience, far from traditional luxury hotels. Here, a stay feels more like a private Tuscan residence than a conventional getaway.
Inspired by the spirit of La Darbia on Lake Orta, this new address embraces a more intimate approach to hospitality, centered around nature, tranquility, and the feeling of being at home. The property is set within a former stone hamlet that has been carefully restored, preserving the soul of the place while introducing the comfort and refinement expected from a contemporary luxury retreat.
The renovation was designed by Studio Primatesta, led by Gian Carlo and Matteo Primatesta, who also developed the project. The vision was to protect the architectural identity of the original village while creating a brighter and more contemporary atmosphere. Original stone walls, historic beams, and local materials blend beautifully with modern elements. Stone, natural wood, terracotta, and mineral textures create interiors that remain deeply connected to the surrounding Chianti landscape.
La Darbia in Chianti features 17 suites spread across the different buildings of the estate. Each accommodation has its own personality and offers privileged views over the Tuscan countryside. Designed as private residences, the suites feature generous spaces, large windows, and a refined yet understated aesthetic. Natural materials, warm tones, and handcrafted furniture create a peaceful and elegant atmosphere. Some suites also include private outdoor areas where guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
Food plays an essential role in the La Darbia experience. The estate’s restaurant celebrates the flavors of the region through cuisine inspired by the seasons and Tuscan traditions. Local ingredients, Chianti wines, and regional recipes are highlighted through a simple yet authentic approach. Overlooking the surrounding hills, each meal becomes a moment of connection with the destination, where the landscape becomes part of the experience.
Wellness naturally follows the philosophy of slow living. The property features two panoramic pools overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills, creating the perfect setting to unwind. Nature walks, culinary discoveries, and experiences inspired by local traditions complete a stay designed around relaxation and reconnection.
With its preserved architecture, residential atmosphere, and exceptional location in the heart of Chianti, La Darbia in Chianti represents a new generation of Tuscan hospitality. A place where luxury is found in the beauty of the landscape, the quality of every detail, and the simple pleasure of taking time to slow down.
