PERMA Serifos: Wellbeing Retreat in Serifos, Greece
A Retreat Designed to Slow Down
Located in Lia, in a protected valley on the southeastern side of Serifos, PERMA Serifos is designed for travelers seeking stillness, inspiration and a return to the essentials. The property describes itself as a wellbeing sanctuary welcoming adults and children over 12, with an ethos centered around rest, self-connection and a deeper relationship with nature. Lia Beach is just a short walk away, while the surrounding landscape provides a natural setting for swimming, walking, breathing and simply slowing down.
Biophilic Architecture by MOLD Architects
Architecture is at the heart of the PERMA experience. Designed by MOLD Architects, the project follows the contours of the landscape rather than attempting to dominate it. Low-slung volumes appear to emerge from the terrain, while carefully positioned openings frame expansive views of the Aegean. The design draws on biophilic and bioclimatic principles, incorporating locally sourced and reclaimed stone, natural materials and a continuous dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces. The result is deliberately quiet: architecture designed to become part of the landscape rather than compete with it.
Five Private Suites and Residences
PERMA Serifos currently comprises just five accommodations: two suites and three residences. The P Suite and The E Suite offer 22 and 25 square meters of interior space respectively, complemented by generous private outdoor areas with pools, outdoor kitchens and sea views. The three residences — R, M and A — each offer 50 square meters of interior space. R Residence and A Residence accommodate up to three guests, while M Residence can host up to four. Each extends into generous outdoor living areas with patios, terraces or balconies, outdoor kitchens and unobstructed views of the sea.
Where the Interiors Meet the Landscape
PERMA’s philosophy becomes particularly apparent within the private spaces. Minimal window frames almost dissolve the boundary between architecture and landscape, while natural materials and pared-back volumes create a calm, tactile atmosphere. Terraces, patios, outdoor kitchens and private pools extend the living spaces into the surrounding nature. The P Suite, for instance, offers 90 square meters of outdoor space excluding the pool, while the E Suite features an impressive 167 square meters.
Sustainability Built Into the Design
Environmental responsibility is integrated into the architecture rather than treated as an afterthought. PERMA uses rainwater collection, a biological wastewater treatment system and solar panels, while locally sourced stone helps anchor the property visually and materially within its surroundings. The result is a thoughtful approach to hospitality that seeks to minimize its environmental footprint while strengthening the connection between guests and the natural elements.
A Simple Approach to Food and Wellbeing
Breakfast is served daily, with a selection of local products, fresh pastries, cheeses, fruit and juices. The culinary approach remains deliberately simple and closely connected to the rhythms of the property. Rather than positioning dining as a formal hotel experience, PERMA encourages a slower relationship with food: fresh ingredients, unhurried meals and a sense of place.
Retreats, Treatments and Reconnection
Wellbeing is woven throughout the PERMA experience. The property hosts retreats combining wellness practices, personal development and reconnection with nature. Its programming includes retreats focused on creativity, personal growth and other forms of conscious living. Massages can also be arranged on request, with treatments ranging from aromatherapy and hot stone massage to Ayurvedic and Thai techniques and reflexology.
Serifos at Its Wildest
PERMA is located in Lia, on the southeastern side of Serifos, in a setting intentionally removed from the busier atmosphere found on some of the larger Cycladic islands. Lia Beach is within walking distance, while the island’s secluded coves and beaches invite further exploration. Ultimately, PERMA’s appeal lies less in an extensive list of hotel amenities than in the sense of space it creates. Here, the landscape becomes the main attraction, and the luxury is having time to experience it without distraction.
We love Perma Serifos for:
- Opening in 2025, an exclusive, secluded location in Lia
- Spectacular views of the Aegean Sea
- Just 5 suites and residences
- Private pools for each accommodation unit
- Wellbeing sanctuary concept
- An atmosphere of profound silence and contemplation
