Feel the natural tranquility and relaxation
Opened in May 2020, The Shiwu Tribe Homestay guesthouse is located in the small mountain village of Nanchawan, Yichang, amidst the green emerald hills of Hubei Province, China.
Previously it was a dilapidated farmhouse that has been restored and transformed by architects from the Design Institute of Landscape & Architecture China Academy of Art. The interior design was created by architect Zhiyong Huang. The 900 square meter house is made up of two ancient stone and wooden volumes which have been linked together by a large structure of glass and steel. The original wooden structure is replaced by a steel frame structure. The existing wood was reused in the interior spaces, complementing the stone walls, in order to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The large picture-frame windows framing the rural and tranquil landscape outside. Overall, the project is designed to integrate architecture and environment, and to highlight the relationship between space and nature. The ground floor, an open-plan space, includes the entrance lobby, a patio, a living room with seating integrated on the ground and with sleek ceiling hanging fireplace, a catering area with a communal table, a dedicated tea room, and a staircase leading to the first floor where the bedrooms are located. This space is interwoven with traditional Chinese colors, traditional books, incense perfumes, traditional tea, and paintings. There is also a large outdoor terrace.
Shiwu Tribe Homestay has 4 spacious, minimalist-style guest rooms. Rooms feature a sober and warm palette with light wood floors, sisal rugs, clean-lined and low-slung furnishings, and boxed window seats. Each bedroom has an open bathroom with double sinks, a shower, and stand-alone bathtubs.
In a peaceful green setting, Shiwu Tribe Homestay offers a complete, comfortable, and modern experience.
