United Places: Hotel in Melbourne

United Places Botanic Garden is a design hotel located across the street from Melbourne's Botanical Gardens.

Book United Places

A luxurious hotel with the comfort of home

In Melbourne, in the heart of the trendy South Yarra district, opposite the Royal Botanical Gardens, the United Places Botanic Gardens hotel reinvents the luxury hotel experience.

Opened in 2018, United Places is the vision of Darren Rubenstein, a first-time property developer and hotel owner. Designed in collaboration with the Australian design firm Carr Design Group, United Places was thought of as a “home-hotel” combining the luxury of a hotel with the comfort of home. From the outside, it is a contemporary and modernist cube-shaped hotel. Inside, there is no lobby, no actual reception desk, but just a butler and a personalized concierge service.

The hotel spans over three floors and includes 12 intimate suites, all very different from one another. The suites have balconies and are divided into two categories: “extroverted” (those facing the back gardens) and “introverted” (those facing the street). Both are decorated in a soft palette with green and pink accents, with velvet curtains, organic cotton sheets, concrete walls, wooden floors, and floor-to-ceiling windows. Each suite features original designer furniture such as Patricia Urquiola‘s Redondo velvet sofa and Grant Featherston’s Australian Scape chair. The bathrooms are fitted with tinted mirrors, rain shower, Le Labo toiletries and Loom organic cotton bath sheets. Some suites have a bathtub overlooking the gardens or the city skyline.

Breakfast is a gourmet menu that changes daily, and is served right in your room. On the first floor, the Matilda 159 restaurant run by chef Scott Pickett serves wood-fired cuisine.

United Places is a unique and luxurious hotel experience, ideal for discovering the city.
