A boutique hotel in Basel’s historic Volkshaus
In 2012, Herzog & de Meuron’s initial project was the renovation of the brewery, bar, beer garden and event spaces of Volkshaus Basel. 8 years later, the architects completed the renovation of the building with the creation of a hotel with 45 rooms. The rooms are simply furnished, with terrazzo floors and custom-made wooden furniture. The lobby with black and green mosaic floor, leather banquettes and paneling, is designed as an exhibition space.
