A surprising design

Casa Cuoco is located in the hillside village of Civitacampomarano, known for the typical street art works, in the hinterland of the Molise region in Southern Italy.

The apartment takes its name from the writer and politician Vincenzo Cuoco who lived in this historic building in the early 19th century. Casa Cuoco is the 4th artist residency integrated into the Airbnb “Italian villages” project, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. This project aims to revive old towns by restoring abandoned houses with the help of Italian architects and artists. Supervised by Federica Sala, the apartment nestled on the first floor of the building, has been completely renovated by Eligo Studio, a Milanese architectural firm founded by Alberto Nespoli and Domenico Rocca. Casa Cuoco combines modern design and minimalism. A photographic triptych was created specifically for the site, by Lorenzo Vitturi, an Italian artist who lives and works between London and Venice.

The space is structured like an open loft, including an entrance, a living area with a living room and kitchen, a dining area, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Different colors were used to delimit the monochrome volumes. Gray, powder pink and blue from Caparol paints, are the three main colors displayed on walls, ceilings and floors, individually in each of the rooms. Numerous pieces of furniture and objects from prestigious brands have been carefully selected to furnish the spaces punctuated with integrated wooden structures serving as a dining table, shelving, sofa and wardrobe. All over the apartment, we find in particular a bed from the Diesel Living collection, a Cc-rug displayed on the wall as a tapestry, Ex.t lighting fixtures in the bathroom, Smeg appliances, Vitra chairs, Bitossi Home crockery, Foscarini lighting, a Paradisoterrestre mirror… and many others.

Casa Cuoco allows guests to learn more about the local village, and exchanger on architecture and art.
