Back to the basics
– Closed temporarily. – Nestled in the middle of pristine nature, in the hills above San Antonio, near a tiny village called Sant Mateu, La Granja represents modesty, simplicity, and the beauty of imperfection.
La Granja is a typical island farmhouse, an 18th century protected finca that has been restored and reinterpreted into a rustic resort in collaboration with Armin Fischer of the German design studio Dreimeta. Opened in 2016, the idea for this destination came from the Design Hotels label. The project consisted of preserving and maintaining the authenticity of the place marked by classic Iberian architecture, and to use the building’s imperfections and the marks of time to give it a new look.
La Granja consists of 9 rooms and an independent two-bedroom house. The differently designed rooms are all furnished with thick walls, small windows, stone, ceilings with exposed dark wooden beams, vaults, hammered iron door handles, earthy tones, minimalist wooden furniture, woven baskets, raw linen, slate, local objects and custom-made furniture. The decoration is relatively sober and refined, and the idea is to return to the essentials, without any superfluous details. Some rooms have a fireplace as well as a private garden overlooking the farmstead.
On the immense 24 acre property extended by 50 acres of pine forests, La Granja also has spacious and fertile gardens, managed on a sustainable basis, and counting about 30 varieties of organic fruits and vegetables. Here the “farm to table” cuisine is complemented with regional products. The common areas include an open kitchen, a bar built around the trunk of a carob tree, and a swimming pool to be shared by everyone.
La Granja Farmhouse offers an authentic experience, “the other” side of Ibiza, known for its sense of relaxation and slow life.
