Stroblhof & Rittstein Homes: Hotel in St. Michael/Eppan
Between the mountains, forests, and vineyards of Eppan, the Stroblhof and its upcoming Rittstein Homes embody that rare natural elegance where the art of living meets true freedom.
Rittstein Homes: A perfect fusion of contemporary lines and vineyard landscapes
In the heart of South Tyrol’s Wine Road, in St. Michael near Eppan, the Stroblhof Hotel, Restaurant & Winery is far more than a place to stay, it is a living legacy. Here, earth, stone, and wine tell a centuries-old story of a place where nature sets the rhythm and hospitality is passed down like a sacred tradition. And from 2026, this legend will begin a new chapter with the opening of the Rittstein Homes, exclusive residences that will redefine contemporary Alpine luxury.
The Stroblhof nestles in a postcard-perfect landscape: terraced vineyards, wooded hills, and the majesty of the Mendel Mountains as its backdrop. The estate feels suspended in time, cocooned by nature. Passing under the grand archway of the historic manor, the outside world fades away. What remains is the scent of the soil, the whisper of the wind through the vines, and the timeless beauty of sun-warmed stone walls.
Founded in the 16th century, Stroblhof began as a winery before becoming an inn in 1900. Today, it is led by Anna Nicolussi-Leck, fifth generation of the family, together with her mother Rosi and her aunt Christine. They have preserved the soul of the estate while infusing it with a contemporary touch. Anna’s father Andreas and brother Thomas oversee the winery, one of the most respected in South Tyrol and a founding member of the Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol. Here, freedom and authenticity are more than values, they are heritage.
The Stroblhof is a tribute to natural materials: clay and lime walls, oak floors, and fine fabrics. Every detail reflects the sincerity of a place designed for well-being. The 36 rooms, divided between the main building and the Altfirmian country house, combine minimalist lines with Alpine warmth. The lime-plastered walls, inspired by nearby castles, echo the dolomitic rock of the surrounding mountains. Nothing distracts the senses, everything invites calm and connection.
The Rittstein Homes, a collection of private apartments opening in 2026, follow this same philosophy. Designed as high-end retreats amid the vines, these residences blend sustainable architecture with contemporary Italian design. Expansive glass facades, pure lines, pale wood, and local stone will offer guests an immersive experience, where privacy meets an open horizon across the Eppan valley. The spirit of Stroblhof continues here: natural, genuine, deeply rooted in its terroir.
Culinary excellence at Stroblhof bears the signature of Chef Enzo Bellia, a Michelin-starred Sicilian talent trained in some of Italy’s most celebrated kitchens. His refined, heartfelt cuisine pays homage to South Tyrolean land while embracing Mediterranean influences. In the ancient stone vaults of the estate, guests enjoy four- or six-course menus inspired by the seasons and the family’s own garden harvests. Herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers are cultivated on site by Christine and Rosi, transforming every dish into a landscape, a dialogue between Alpine terroir and the distant sea.
Wine, of course, takes center stage: the estate’s Pinot Noirs, and expressive whites such as NICO Sauvignon or Schwarzhaus Chardonnay, capture the soul, relief, and sunlight of the land.
Well-being at Stroblhof is experienced as communion with nature. The 600 m² spa features a 16-meter indoor pool, a steam grotto, a panoramic herbal sauna, and an 18-meter natural outdoor pool shaded by chestnut trees. Natural materials, clay, wood, and stone, reflect the philosophy of the estate, while treatments use organic products by South Tyrolean brand Team Dr. Joseph. Every space opens onto vineyards and mountain views: a sensory refuge where silence becomes the ultimate luxury.
The Stroblhof does not seduce through opulence, but through sincerity. Everything here breathes slowness, respect for nature’s cycles, and harmony between past and present. It is a place to experience, to taste, to contemplate, a world apart, shaped by five centuries of history and by those who continue to reinvent it.
In 2026, with the launch of the Rittstein Homes, Stroblhof is set to offer a new form of freedom: the chance to truly live within the landscape, to merge with the simple, majestic beauty of South Tyrol. A place where luxury is never ostentatious, it is something you feel, in every breath between the vines and the sky.
